BUSINESSES URGED TO GIVE TRUCKIES QUICK PAYMENT
Inverell based Senator John Williams is calling for truck drivers to be given a fair go when it comes to receiving payment for their services.
A motion, that calls for all businesses to agree to make payments within 30 days, passed the Upper House earlier this week.
Senator Williams says some large companies ask operators to accept extended payment terms of up to 120 days, which can make meeting their financial commitments harder.
He says there’s a risk some drivers might not have to money to pay for maintenance and repairs, resulting in a serious accident.
