It was a case of so close, yet so far, when a prized pet parrot flew the coop, just as a tree-lopper tried to capture it at Broadbeach Waters.
The two-thousand dollar bird belongs to Gold Coast identity Billy James.
It had been missing for a week, when Mr James’s partner heard a familiar voice, squawking his owners name.
“Eckles is a very dear to us, he’s one of the family, been with us for a decade, he’s a beautiful boy, just had a dress rehearsal and I’m sure we’ll get it right next time.”
So, if you hear something calling out “Bill”.. It may well be emerald green, Eccles, the Eclectus Parrot.
