NEW INTERIM GM FOR CESSNOCK AS STRIKE ACTION AVERTED

Waid Crockett has been appointed Acting General Manager of Cessnock Council, following the resignation of Lea Rosser earlier this week.
Ms Rosser’s decision came amid a raft of controversy, including legal action over moves by councillors to sack her, and an investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
Expressions of interest for the position of Interim General Manager will be accepted until April 24, while council looks for a permanent replacement.
STRIKE ACTION AVERTED
Meanwhile strike action has been averted at the troubled Cessnock Council, with agreement reached in the Industrial Relations Commission today.
Former GM Ms Rosser wanted to put staff on a new workplace agreement.
Today’s hearing ended in agreement that the proposal would be dropped and the status quo remain in light of Ms Rosser’s resignation on Monday.
Staff had passed a no confidence motion in the General Manager.
