Two spear fisherman have been rescued off Coolangatta after boatie Dean Swift stumbled upon the pair while fishing five kilometres out to sea.
He was returning home on dusk when he saw one man bobbing in the water.
“He was just hanging onto an anchor rope that they’d cut the boat away from in the middle of nowhere so we picked him up put him in the boat and then we went looking for the other guy and found him with the boat and the EPIRB and a flare going.”
Fortunately, they’d only been overboard about 15 minutes when rescued.
Both were unhurt.
