REGIONAL AVIATION HITS BACK

The regional aviation industry has lashed out at claims that fly-in/fly-out workforce arrangements
could hurt rural communities.
It comes after Regional Australia Committee chairman Tony Windsor tabled a report into the consequences of the phenomenon.
Regional Aviation Association of Australia CEO Paul Tyrell says many regional aircraft operators would find it hard to remain viable without fly-in/fly-out business.
He says claims describing the process as “the cancer of the bush” are ridiculous and inflammatory.
The committee’s report includes 21 recommendations to the federal government – some of which Mr Tyrell says could see towns worse off.
