GAS LEAK IN SINGLETON

One person has been treated for breathing difficulties following a burst gas main in Singleton.

High pressure gas was released from a main in Kelso Street after council crews struck it while working on a water main at around 11 o’clock this morning.

A local fire crew worked to suppress the leak, until a gas repair crew from Muswellbrook arrived an hour later and crimped the gas supply.

Kelso and Church Streets were already closed due to the water main works, but Loader Avenue has since been added.

Residents in the area have been warned not to go outside and turn off all spark-emitting devices, including mobile phones.
