ANOTHER STEP FORWARD FOR MEMORIAL WALK

Work will soon begin on Newcastle’s Memorial Walk project, with Rutherford company Waeger Constructions announced as the successful tenderer.
BHP Billiton has committed $3-million and Newcastle City Council $1.5-million towards the project, which will stretch from Strzelecki Lookout to Bar Beach.
The walk will provide a memorial to the 1915 Gallipoli landing and the start of steel making in Newcastle.
Construction will take place in three stages and is expected to be completed in time for ANZAC centenary celebrations in April next year.
Take a look at some artist impressions of the Memorial Walk. We’ll bring you more details and pictures tonight at 6.
