An ex-serviceman from Coffs Harbour believes Australia Day should be treated with the same respect as Anzac Day.
Celebrating his 97th birthday, Billy Owers would like to see people becoming more patriotic this year.
“That’s the trouble with Australia today, I think we’re running away from being Australian, ” Bill said.
As for turning 97 the veteran said, ” Well I don’t feel like 97 – I feel like 107 ”
Billy will celebrate Australia Day with a couple of beers at his favourite hotel in Coffs.
