TERRIGAL TEEN WINS YOUTH OLYMPIC GOLD

Terrigal’s Georgia Wassall has taken out the Women’s 800-metres at the Australian Youth Olympics Festival.

Wassall set a new AYOF record, winning gold in 2:08:68.

Coach Kevin Wills says the race tactics worked brilliantly, with Wassall surging with 500-metres to go.

“The challengers couldn’t bridge the gap and she held on for a comfortable win.”

New Zealand’s Tarryn Davey and Lucy Jacobs picked up silver and bronze.
