PROTEST IN NEWCASTLE TO STOP THE MAULES CREEK PROJECT

Protesters gathered outside a Newcastle ANZ branch today, demanding the bank withdraw its $1.2-billion funding of Whitehaven Coal’s Maules Creek project in the Gunnedah Basin.
“They are devastating fragile eco systems, displacing farmers and will affect the health of hunter residents with all the extra coal they are going to ship through newcastle.”
Meanwhile, Hunter man Jonathan Moylan will face the Australian Securities and Investments Commission next Thursday, over a hoax media release saying the bank had withdrawn funding for the project.
It saw $314-million temporarily wiped off the value of Whitehaven Coal.

Jonathan Moyland has drawn Australia’s attention to the unacceptable damage being done to the environment by the exponential expansion of coal mining that is being funded with credit creation by banks. A responsible attitude to climate justice is being denied to tomorrow’s people. Stop exponential expansion of coal. Stop exponential expansion of private credit. Too many people will be hurt when the bubble bursts.
