There was a bizarre police chase for officers at Currumbin overnight.
While responding to reports of a stolen tyre on Walsh Street, officers came across two men attempting to change their car tyre.
The 22 year old driver allegedly sped off with the tyre unsecured and hit a gutter – he allegedly fled into bushland but was tracked down by the dog squad.
An 18 year old passenger also allegedly ran off – but later handed himself in to police.
Both are being questioned.
