An incredible sight in the Upper Hunter, with a calm, gentle waterway transforming into a torrent of mud and debris in a matter of seconds.
Branch Creek at Moonan Flats near the Barrington Tops became a one-point-five metre wall of water, following 44-millimetres of rain.
The footage – captured by a local worker – has been viewed more than 400,000 times on Facebook.
The SES says it’s a reminder of just how dangerous and unpredictable floodwater can be.
