A 6-year-old boy has drowned after getting into trouble at a beach on the New South Wales north coast.
An off duty paramedic pulled the boy from the water at Emerald Beach at about 5:15pm yesterday afternoon.
The paramedic performed CPR until emergency crews arrived and transported him to hospital, where was was pronounced dead on arrival.
