FAR NORTH COAST FOOTBALL FUTURE

Football Far North Coast has a new general manager, and a new vision for the future.

Local sporting allrounder Steve Mackney will soon take the reins, and plans to keep his first year in the top job low key.

“I think in the first 12 months looking to come in and not change the structure. Essentially just to ensure I can build a good relationship with the clubs.
To try and ensure I can send a message that Football Far North Coast is here for the players and the clubs first and foremost.”

As part of a long term plan for the league, Mackney’s enlisted the help of some high profile football stars.

Ex Soccerroo and former Lismore lad Craig Foster hopes to help the north coast become a major regional centre for the sport.

“I’ve been in discussions with Gold Coast United, to provide a pathway to the elite professional level of football in Australia for our wonderfully talented youth of the north coast area.”

He’s also in talks with local mayors and politicians, to improve football infrastructure and facilities on the north coast.
