GRIP WELCOMES COURT’S COAL MINE DECISION
A Gloucester community group has welcomed this week’s decision by the Land and Environment Court to overturn the approval of Coal and Allied’s Warkworth mine in the Hunter.
Gloucester Residents in Partnership believes it puts their town in a better position to fight the proposed Rocky Hill open cut coal mine.
The $160-million project would see a mine developed on the outskirts of town, which would come within 900-metres of a residential area.
The Department of Planning and Infrastructure is reviewing the DA and Environmental Impact Statement, before it’s placed on public exhibition.
