SIX YEARS FOR BOLTON POINT SHOOTING

Lake Macquarie man Martin Booth, has been sentenced to six years behind bars over the shooting murder of James Arthur Nolan last year.
In March 2011, Mr Nolan was shot at point blank range on the doorstep of his Bolton Point home.
The Toronto man and his brother went to the house at 9pm where an argument started.
The court was told the sawn-off shotgun was discharged from between 50 centimetres and a metre from his chest.
38 year old Booth was sentenced on manslaughter charges in Newcastle Supreme Court today, arguing he acted in self defence.
In handing down her judgement today, Justice Megan Latham told the court… “given the proximity (of the firearm to the victim) I’m satisfied the offender intended to kill the victim.”
Booth will be eligible for parole on March 21 2017.
