North Coast is looking to retain its title on home turf at this year’s Combined High School’s State Rugby Union Carnival being played in Coffs Harbour this week.
In today’s preliminary matches, North Coast battled North West in a replay of last year’s grand final.
After a tough battle the home side took the game by just one point, 15-14.
12 teams from around the state are battling it out for the shield, with the finals set down for Friday.
