The emergency department at Mullumbimby Hospital will be relocated for several weeks next month, after asbestos was found in soil beneath the building.
The discovery was made by an industrial hygienist during a routine inspection.
Work to remove the asbestos will begin on the 14th of November, with the ED temporarily moved to another part of the hospital.
