McCLOY’S LORD MAYORAL CAMPAIGN SCALES NEW HEIGHTS

One Lord Mayoral candidate has taken his election campaign to a whole new level.
Jeff McCloy has mixed art and politics by somehow fastening a bronze statue of a man climbing a building on King Street, wearing a McCloy for Mayor T-Shirt.

While it should be a state matter, why is Jeff McCloy standing for lord mayor, if he doesn’t want take the rail land for development that the Broadmeadow – Newcastle section of rail line sits on.
To him, it is valuable real estate, and I would have no doubt that is the only reason he is standing, so he can pressure the government to cut the Newcastle – Broadmeadow part of the Newcastle – Sydney rail line.
Otherwise, why would a developer stand for lord mayor if they are not aft erh
Sorry, I accidently pressed submit before I was finished. It should read at the end “Otherwise , why would a developer stand for lord mayor if they are not after that rail land.
Big brother there must be something else you can put on ,this is crap
This has got the WOW factor. So good to be flush with heaps of money…will Newcastle be fooled by this flash of cash ? Are the jobs he undoubetly can get done the jobs we want or NEED ?
Im new to the area and Im surprised by how run down the CBD appears… Newcastle deserves some pampering! Some me time! he he he
Please fix our city and forget about a art gallery that we can not afford, and a large number of people will pay for but very few use we have just spent money on a new museum
O.M.G. HOW I WOULD LOVE HIM TO LOSE HIS FOOTING

Some of the Recent comments on the forum is the exact reason why we need someone with Jeff”s proven get up and go. People who are concerned that he might benefit from say the removal of the rail line are short sighted and can not see the overall benefit for the city as a whole. if someone like Jeff or another developer benefit from this, then I say well done and then why not , they would be the ones taking the risk of whether any developments would be profitable or not. Change is constant and we desperately need change in the CBD now.
Come people get behind the guy who is going to have a go . I think it is really nice that he is not going to accept any money for it and will donate the salary to charity.
Good on him.

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WILL TAKE THE PEOPLE OF NEWCASTLE TO RECONISE WHAT A MONUMENTAL MISTAKE THEY HAVE MADE BY ELECTING ONE OF THE MOST( DO ANYTHING AT ALL FOR MONEY LAND DEVELOPERS) I HAVE EVER HEARD OF ,AND LETTING HIM DO AS HE LIKES?
MAYBE SOMEBODY SHOULD ASK FOR INSTANCE ,HOW MR McCLOY ACTUALLY BROUGHT GREEN POINT ON LAKE MACQUARIE FROM A MAN THAT DID NOT EVEN OWN IT EVEN WHEN THE MATTER WAS GOING THROUGH THE COURTS .WHO ELSE COULD BUY REAL ESTATE WITHOUT A PROPER TITLE SEARCH.
ALSO I AM SURE THERE IS MUCH MORE THAN THAT I HAVE NOT HEARD OF, ALL THE WAY TO WHAT I HAVE HEARD THAT HE THREATENS TO SUE ANYBODY THAT STANDS IN HIS WAY
,BUT THIS IS ONLY MY OPION ,SO NEWCASTLE START ASKING YOUR OWN QUESTIONS BECAUSE NOT ALL YOU HEARE CAN BE WRONG
All I can say is I was hardly surprised to see the Opinion column today by Anthony Cox, an outspoken Climate Change Sceptic, on the same day that Jeff McCloy, property developer, becomes Mayor of Newcastle. It would appear this is an omen for the future of Newcastle – more development with disregard for the environment. I understand Jeff McCloy recently brought in a “Climate Change Expert” from Perth with regards to Lake Macquarie Council’s flood zoning on his property development at the old Pasminco site in Boolaroo. Will this be Newcastle Mayor suing Lake Macquarie City Council for their scientifically based approach to zoning/flood risks. Look what happened to Brisbane when development went ahead in known flood zones.
Further to my comment O.M.G ONCE BITTEN
ROSS McNALLY has got it right.
My late husband Edward Lunn was bitten by McCLOY joining the pirates that raided the Cardiff Coal Company knowing full well that Judge Bryson in the Supreme Court had said that very day [10 November 1992 ]that there was a prima facie case attacking the forged documents.
The family subsequently won the case, exposing the fraud but to this day 20 years later the family is still fighting for justice and has not been compensated for their loss and trauma
Following a recent trip to Europe I realise how backward we are in Newcastle by all this talk of cutting a rail line, the lifeblood to the city. This would be a total waste of taxpayers money around $650 milllion dollars.
The new Lord Mayor should travel on each road out of Newcastle at 5.00pm perhaps he would realise how important it is to have an efficient Public Transport system.
But it would appear that the new Lord Mayor knows that developers can now buy and develop unused rail corridors.
None of the brochures circulated said cutting the rail was his priority.
His priority should be making Newcastle Council accountable, stop wasting ratepayers money and reduce our rates. The Laman Street debacle was a total waste of money.
