CONTROVERSIAL PEEL RIVER ESTATE DEVELOPMENT TO BE SHELVED

The controversial Peel River Estate development is set to be shelved indefinitely after the developer announced he’s abandoning the project.
The 500-lot development has been in the works for over five years and would see Calala Lane connected to Tamworth’s CBD via King George the Fifth Avenue.
The proposal caused an uproar from residents who believed a number of iconic oak trees along the strip would be affected.
150-blocks are now expected to be sold off – while a development application for the remaining 350-lots is expected to be lodged.
