BLOW FOR BOGEY HOLE

A state government report into the future of Newcastle’s historic Bogey Hole rock pool has come back with two clear options, the cheapest, to fill-in the swimming hole and cap it with concrete.
The highly anticipated report came as a response to a tragic accident at the Bogey Hole in January, in which a young man died after hitting his head on rocks as he jumped into the pool.
The report costs the Bogey Hole’s closure at $140,000 or $265,000 to keep it open with a range of safety improvements.
