The call comes on the back of a number of animal welfare complaints.

What a breath of fresh air. Horse cruelty on the northern rivers area has been unadressed for way too long. This group should be funded by the government as they are doing a fantastic voluntary service for the community. It worries me how long they will survive without sufficient funding. Hopefully this group can get more offenders charged through the police as offenders always repeat animal crimes because of light or zero sentencing. It would be great if other neighbouring police took the same initiative as Lismore police do.
As a Teacher, Horse Trainer and foster carer for East Coast Horse Rescue…I have been witness to far too much abuse and neglect, often from pure ignorance rather than deliberate cruelty. I urge all Horse owners to learn the art of Horse care and management so as to really give their Horse the life he deserves, gain the most from your riding and improve your relationship with these amazing animals.
East Coast Horse Rescue do such an incredible job, they are angels. As a community, we need to support them so they can carry on doing what they are doing. If it wasn’t for them, god knows what would be happening to these beautiful animals. Thank you also to Lismore police for all they are doing in supporting ECHR.
