Lismore drivers who overstay their welcome in a parking space beware – there’s a new way of being caught.
The camera-operated licence plate recognition technology will be used once a week, to compliment the more familiar “walk and chalk” program of parking inspectors.
“It’s about becoming more efficient in what we do. Technology is providing those opportunities for Council across many business areas so parking patrol is no different.”
The initiative is part of a resource-sharing arrangement with the Byron Shire Council, which owns the camera.
