NEWCASTLE RAIL COMMUTERS ENJOYING QUIET TIME

It seems Newcastle train users are enjoying some quiet time when they commute, with quiet carriages to become a permanent fixture on the Newcastle and Central Coast lines.

Over 90% of rail users backed the move which bans commuters from loud talking, playing loud music and using mobile phones in the first and last carriage.

A three month trial started in February, designed to make rail travel more pleasant, with the first and last carriages of all six and eight carriage trains and the last carriage of four carriage trains on the lines designated quiet carriages.

Quiet carriages will now be trialled in other intercity trains on the South Coast and Blue Mountains line.
