Newcastle City Council has deferred plans to extend the Stockton caravan park.
Hundreds of residents signed a petition against the plan which would have seen an extra 25 cabins built to the park’s south.
Council says the extension of the tourist park will now be a low priority in plans to transform the Stockton Foreshore.
The plans now focus on a district-level playground, viewing platform and cafe at Griffith Park.
