Lake Macquarie Council has voted to defer a decision on plans for a bottle shop at Mount Hutton, situated less than 50 metres from a primary school.
Residents against the proposal filled the public gallery last night, while Mount Hutton Public captains spoke on behalf of their peers.
It’s believed a second police submission opposing the bottle shop also influenced the decision.
The issue will be reconsidered in a fortnight.
