RMS OFFERS PROPERTY OWNERS MONEY FOR HABITAT LAND

Landholders living between Woolgoolga and Ballina can earn extra income
before the Pacific Highway duplication is completed in 2020.

Payment will be available from the Roads and Maritime Service next year for those willing to set aside important wildlife habitat within their property boundaries.

Land owners who think they may have important wildlife habitat are asked to contact the department or visit its website before the 31st of July.

A spokesperson says the RMS can’t always compensate for habitat loss near construction sites but can protect rural land elsewhere.
