ROAD REPAIRS COULD STILL TAKE MONTHS

Byron Shire Council says it still doesn’t know how long it will take to fix the Wilsons Creek Road landslip.
The road was damaged during floods in January and has since been off limits to two way traffic and heavy vehicles.
Council will eventually apply for state government funding to fix the road, but first have to come up with a solution to stabilise the area.
Staff say that is still a number of months away.
In the meantime, drivers with vehicles weighting more than five tonnes are being urged not to go along the affected area.
