STAFF TIED UP AS THIEVES ROB TAVERN WITH AXE AND CROWBAR

Three staff members were tied up with cable ties during a brazen overnight robbery at the West Tower Tavern at Ballina.

Police say two hooded men entered the pub just after 10pm armed with an axe and crowbar and demanded cash.

The bandits tied staff members hands behind their backs before running towards the Dan Murphey’s car park with a large amount of cash.

“Fortunately the staff members weren’t physically injured but they were tied up and as you can imagine would be traumatic to go through”

Police and the dog squad attended but were unable to find the offenders.

Detectives are now investigating possible links to robberies on the mid-north coast.
