FISHERMEN FED UP WITH WAITING FOR BALLINA BAR DREDGE REPORT
North Coast trawler operators say they are fed up with waiting for the State Government to finalise it’s report on dredging the Ballina Bar.
Recent wild weather has worsened the condition of the rivermouth, making it difficult for fisherman to operate.
Ballina Fisherman Co-op Manager, Phil Hilliard says his trawlers haven’t been out for a month.
“We’ve got 15 staff, a lot of them sitting down doing nothing, a lot of them are on leave because they just can’t go to work.”
The state government was due to release its findings in March, but now claims it will need to do further testing.
