STATE GOVERNMENT CONSIDERS BANNING DUAL ROLES

Byron Bay Mayor Jan Barham may be forced to choose between her role in council and as State MP before next year’s council elections.

The State Government has released a discussion paper on whether New South Wales should join other states in banning dual roles.

27 politicians are currently juggling two jobs.

“somethings got to suffer cause you can’t be in two places at once. And it means you’re either missing council meetings or state parliament”

Mr Page will wait for the results of the discussion paper before taking a position to cabinet.
