Greater Taree City Council will receive an extra $800,000 from the state government to upgrade its roads.
Half a million dollars will go towards the design and planning work for Wallanbah and Avalon roads near Nabiac.
The remainder will be used to improve The Lakes Way between the Hallidays Point turnoff and Rainbow Flat.
Both roads carry a high volume of traffic and works will begin soon.
