BUSINESS GROUP CALLS FOR CITY COUNCIL TO BE SACKED

A Newcastle business group is calling for early local government elections or for the Newcastle City Council to be placed under an administrator.
The Newcastle Alliance claims the current elected council has become dysfunctional. The call comes as council and the community grapple over the contentious Laman Street fig tree issue.
A decision on the future of the trees has again been deferred while the Land and Environment court considers an injunction brought by the Save Our Figs group.
Debate over the trees has raged for nearly two years and has cost ratepayers around $1.5 million.
The current council’s term expires in September 2012.

Unfortunately the elected council is only as good as the gang of four directors who implement their resolutions(or not as in the case of the December 10th 2010 pro fig preservation and risk mitigation resolution) and advise them.
Executives from all over the business world are having to present their work these days for assessment by the shareholders(ratepayers) why not these professionals ? Why should our elected reps be the ones tarnished by this massive overspend and failure of community consultation ?
oh yes, and how many appointments for the public will an adminstrator have per week ?
Here, Here! After what I witnessed in the chambers last night, I was appalled by the infintile behaviour of Buman and King. As elected councilors they acted more like spoilt 3yr olds. Goodbye boys, the public is finally seeing you at your most pathetic. Buman, your a disgrace to the office.

Dictionaries are useful for checking spelling. Correct spelling adds weight to your comments on standards.
Spelling aside, don’t take your eye off the ball. Get behind and support anyone and everyone who is acting to remove CSG mining from the local region, from NSW and from Australia. If you’ve not viewed Four Corners 7th November 2011, do so.
Actions to halt the Curtis Island destruction, will achieve 3 outcomes:
1. save dugongs and the Great Barrier Reef.
2. send a big message to Qld Gov and its mining partners: No, no CSG thanks.
3. save Australia’s face when UNESCO comes to visit next year.
All you boys, we are fighting against the biggest threat to Australia since 1770.
