COMMUNITY TO HAVE A SAY ON SAND BUILD UP AT POPULAR DIVE SPOT

The community is being encouraged to comment on a report into sand build up which is destroying a popular Port Stephens dive site.
The report looks into causes of the sand movement at Halifax Point and Fly Point and identifies possible solutions.
“The report recommends the removal of a bit of sand in fact three to four million dollars worth of sand but we’d like the community to have a look at the study.”
Halifax Point is the worst affected of the two sites, with sand build up having wiped up 70 per cent of the habitat.
