Newcastle’s lifeguards were put through their paces today for their
annual fitness test.
First up an 800 metre swim, followed by a run and board paddle, a demonstration of jetski skills, then a written exam.
Lifeguards performed 300 rescues off the city’s beaches last season.
A little further offshore, a mother and baby humpback made it all look too easy, as they head south to cooler waters.
