Local airports are set to be the big winners of a new state government pre-election promise.
The plan involves providing up to $50 million dollars for much needed infrastructure to boost regional tourism.
The Northern Rivers is already a tourism hotspot, but the boost could see even more visiting the region by air, if the funding is allocated locally.
Lismore, Grafton and Ballina Byron airports would all be eligible to apply for the grants.
