After a successful visit to her namesake port, HMAS Newcastle today headed back out into a rough sea.
Crew from the warship participated in a ceremonial freedom of the city parade and held a popular open day.
The visit coincided with the commemoration of a Japanese submarine attack on Newcastle during World War Two.
