BOAT OWNERS WARNED TO STAY CLEAR OF COFFS DREDGE

Boat owners are being urged to keep clear of a sand dredge operating near the entrance to Coffs Harbour and the marina.

At night, the vessel displays navigation lights to warn those coming a bit too close.

Crown lands Department spokesman Phil Fogarty said, “The dredge is in the main traffic way of all incoming and outgoing vessels so certainly we ask all vessel owners to be careful,”

40,000 cubic metres of sand needs to be dredged from the harbour to deepen the port.

The sand is being pumped to Park Beach as part of the half-a-million-dollar project.
