BALLINA BOASTS BIGGEST POPULATION INCREASE

Ballina has become the boom town of the far north coast with the biggest population increase across all five local government areas.
New Figures from the Bureau of Statistics show Ballina has gained just over 4,500 residents since 2001, while Kyogle is struggling with only a 60-person increase.
And the future isn’t looking good for Kyogle either, with its population base projected to decline by 1,000 people by 2036.
All other government areas are expected grow.
