POLICE SEARCH AFTER ARMED ROBBERY

Police searched for three men near Crescent Head today, who are believed to have committed an armed robbery at Urunga early this morning.

Detectives say the men held up the Urunga Bowling Club shortly after midnight, stealing money before leading police on a high-speed car chase through Eungai Rail.

It’s believed they later fled on foot, after the car they were travelling in crashed into a creek off the Belmore Bank Road, west of Kempsey.

Police established a perimeter and a search of the area followed involving Polair and Police dogs squads, however the men could not be located.
