UPPER HOUSE MAKES CALL ON REFORMS TO FLOODPLAIN HARVESTING

The state’s Upper House has voted to block proposed reforms to floodplain harvesting.
The changes would’ve seen licensing enforced to monitor water taken from floodplain catchments.
Various parties, including the New South Wales Irrigators Council, have been pushing for the reforms, to stop the legalisation of unlimited water take.
However, the move was quashed in parliament yesterday, with some representatives claiming not enough details were provided on the rules surrounding the licensing.
