Wakeboarding on the Wallamba River will be banned from early next year due to concerns about its impact on erosion.
Landowners along the waterway claim the large waves generated by the sport are causing damage to the riverbanks.
From February wakeboards will be restricted to using the western side of Wallis Island.
Signage will be put up in the coming week.
