BELLO TREES FACING THE CHOP

The sound of chainsaws will soon be heard in Bellingen’s CBD, after a group of passionate locals lost their fight to save all four Camphour Laurels at the northern end of Church Street.

At it’s monthly meeting this morning, council voted to save the two gateway trees from the axe, but says the other’s are in distress and have to go.

But opponents say their destruction will impact Bellingen’s charm.

Council says the trees will be removed by the end of July next year.
