Merewether Boardriders are hoping to defend their title as the best surfing club in Northern New South Wales, at the Surftag qualifiers in Newcastle tomorrrow.
Surftag is a relay format, in which a surfer gets two waves before tagging in the next team member.
Ryan Callinan will head up Merewether’s squad on its home break, as it looks to qualify for the Australian championships, to be held later this year.
