GIRL UNCONSCIOUS, POLICE ATTACKED AT HOUSE PARTY

A teenager was knocked unconscious and police were attacked with glass bottles at an out of control house party in Lake Macquarie last night.

Police were called Rhodes Street, Blackalls Park at around 10pm where they were faced with trying to contain several brawls.

On arrival, there were more than 150 people on the street, many throwing glass bottles and other items at the officers and their cars.

Several people started fighting, and a 17-year-old girl was knocked unconscious.

She was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

The group continued to brawl, and police used pepper spray and the dog squad to control the crowd.

Five people were arrested and will be charged with offences including resisting arrest, and possessing prohibited drugs.

Police are investigating the incident, and will speak to the media this afternoon.
