A University of Newcastle student has been awarded one of the most sought-after scholarships at the university.
Artist Skye Jacobsen, from Lake Macquarie, has been named the 2013 winner of the Jennie Thomas Travelling Art Scholarship, which gives students the opportunity to travel for inspiration for their Honours year of study.
Skye was announced the winner at the launch of a special exhibition at the University Gallery, featuring artworks of previous scholarship recipients from the past decade.
