Dangerous Surf conditions have local Marine Rescue on their toes.
Waves of up to six metres were recorded off the buoys in Byron Bay and the public is being urged to take care.
“People need to be careful crossing bars or probably not cross the bars at all, although they’ll get a warning about that if they do attempt it. there will be strong seas coming into the coast and surfers need to take care and as we know, surfers enjoy these kind of conditions.”

Swimmers and fisherman are also being warned to exercise common sense.
The rough conditions are expected to hang around for the next few days.
