METHANE LEVELS IN GLOUCESTER’S AIR TYPICAL OF REGIONAL AREAS

Air monitoring at AGL’s Waukivory coal seam gas site near Gloucester has revealed methane levels before, during and after fracking operations are “typical” of those found in regional areas.
The report found methane concentration was 1.8 parts per million, which is comparable to the global average.
The testing, commissioned by the mining giant, was carried out between July 2013 and May this year.
It followed a request from Gloucester Shire Council after they raised concerns about the impact of mining on air quality.
