Travelling between Glen Innes and Tenterfield will soon be a lot safer, with the federal government finalising plans for a $60-million dollar upgrade of the New England Highway.
It will involve a 320-metre long bridge at Bolivia Hill, along with widening lanes and improving road shoulders.
The upgrades will help heavy vehicles navigate the winding stretch of road more comfortably.
Tenders for the project are expected to be called in the coming months, with work to begin in early 2018.
