A rescue was undertaken this morning to free a whale caught in fishing nets off the coast of Coffs Harbour.
A fisherman raised the alarm when he found the mammal, believed to be one of last year’s calves, struggling in the water a kilometre off Mullaway Headland.
After several hours, Woolgoolga Sea Rescue and divers from the Marine Parks authority successfully freed the whale.
